AMERICAN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) Several cars were involved in a crash with a single moose on Interstate 86 near American Falls Monday morning.

Idaho State Police say a moose was hit at around 6:30 a.m. by a motorist heading west at the Rainbow Road overpass. Police say Kim Sortor, 54, of Pocatello, hit the moose in a Chevrolet Sonic. At the same time, a Utah woman swerved to avoid hitting the dead moose and slid off the interstate and into the overpass pillar.

A third car driven by Lashae Hamilton, 20, of Springfield, ID, hit the dead moose and lost control, sliding off of the road. Two people in one of the cars had to be taken to the hospital. Everyone involved had been wearing seat belts. Westbound I-86 was closed for about an hour.
