Missing McCall Man Found Dead

BOISE (KTVB) -- Valley County authorities say a McCall man missing since Saturday has been found dead in the backcountry.

Hal Blanton, 61, was flown into the Willey Ranch near the South Fork, southeast of McCall last Wednesday to hunt for antlers. He was reported missing after he failed to show up Saturday morning at a pre-arranged pick up location.

The pilot contacted Valley County dispatch and a search for Blanton was started.

Members of the Valley County Search and Rescue, Idaho Army National Guard and others searched Saturday afternoon into Sunday. Blanton was found dead just before 10 a.m. Sunday.

A cause of death has not been determined, but authorities say it does not appear to be suspicious.
