HEYBURN, Idaho (AP) — Prosecutors in south-central Idaho have filed first-degree murder and attempted murder charges against a suspect in the Aug. 2 shooting death of a Heyburn man. Minidoka County prosecutors announced Friday they filed the charges against 21-year-old Christopher Cruz of Heyburn for the shooting death of 36-year-old Craig Glen Short and for shooting at another man.

Short was found dead at Cruz's residence. Sheriff Eric Snarr says Cruz has not been arrested. No charges have been filed against his girlfriend, 32-year-old Stephanie Pauline Juarez, who remains a person of interest. Cruz is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and 145 pounds while Juarez is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 175 pounds. Both have black hair and brown eyes. Snarr says they may be traveling in Juarez's gray 2002 Chevy Malibu.
