A new trailer for Mighty No. 9 emerged from PAX this past weekend, and the game is looking more and more like the Mega Man we've always wanted... just not with Mega Man in it.

Update: We have added footage of Mega Man co-creator Keiji Inafune playing Might No. 9's multiplayer below, which is the first time we have seen any kind of two-player action in Mighty No. 9.

We see a steady two minutes of Mighty No. 9 in action in this trailer, showing off many of the different locales we'll be blasting our way through and a few of Beck's abilities. We see a moving train level and a level where the lights turn on and off just like in an old Mega Man game. We also get to see Beck blasting enemies and dashing his way through each level with ease.

More importantly, we get a taste of three boss battles within Mighty No. 9: No.3, No. 6 and No. 7 all make an appearance to show off their fighting skills. No. 7 is a red swordsman (Zero?), who can deflect Beck's attacks with a single slash. No. 3 controls electricity, as we see her shoot giant lightning bolts across the screen with ease. No. 6 looks almost like a jet, flying around his stage and dropping bombs that Beck has to dodge. All three look like formidable foes, but we won't find out for sure until we battle them.

If nothing else, Mighty No. 9 looks like it could serve a tremendous purpose: letting Capcom know that Mega Man will still work in 2014 as it did in the late '80s, it just needs some love. Maybe they'll even bring Inafune-san back for more, but we're not holding our breath.

Mighty No. 9 is due in 2015 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U, 3DS, PS Vita and PC.
