Keiji Inafune and Comcept have announced that their spiritual successor to Mega Man will be getting its own animated series as well as a second crowdfunding campaign.
Mighty No. 9 is getting a second crowdfunding campaign along with its own cartoon series, Destructoid reports. After raising nearly $4 million dollars from its fans with an initial goal of only $800,000, Comcept has announced that the funding it received from Mighty No. 9’s very successful Kickstarter campaign has not been spent in vain, and the game will be completed in its entirety. Keiji Inafune has released a video (provided below) that announces a second crowdfunding campaign for bonus features being added into Mighty No. 9. We guess all that time at Capcom paid off for Inafune.
The first of these new stretch goals is having full English dubs being added into the game if an additional $100,000 is raised on its official website via Paypal. Donations come in the form of pre-purchasing Mighty No. 9 in a variety of ways, including Steam Early Access. While $100,000 for English voice-overs in a Mega Man-style game seems a bit much (there better be a lot of dialogue and some surprising voice actors involved), we still hope this gorgeous project gets as much support as it can get. We also get a nice chunk of new in-game footage within Inafune’s video. In particular, we get to see how Beck transforms when he uses the powers of the other Mighty Number bosses. Instead of Mega Man’s traditional color palette swaps, Beck actually wears the outfit of the fallen boss to use their powers.
Even more surprising is the announcement of a Mighty No. 9 animated series, which is being done by Digital Frontier. Digital Frontier is known for the ‘Resident Evil: Damnation’ CGI movie along with the live-action films based on the ‘Death Note’ anime series. In this whimsical and fun video, we get to see Beck try out the powers of the other Mighty Numbers.
Mighty No. 9’s animated series teaser features a YouTube description which summarizes Beck’s overall story. Beck is a weak, combat android with the ability to transform who was made to fight in a league of fighting robots. The most toughest of these fighters are called the Mighty Numbers. When all the other robots in this league are hit with a computer virus that forces them to try and eradicate all of humanity, Beck will head out to try and stop each of the Mighty Numbers.
Beck will try to save humanity from his robotic brothers when Mighty No. 9 launches on PC, PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in the spring of 2015.
