Rare has made some pretty classic games over the years, including Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark and Battletoads, and a Microsoft exec thinks we'll see them again.

When Polygon researched the topic of Rare Ltd's classic titles, it found out that Microsoft (who purchased Rare in 2002) is still thinking about some of its fans' most beloved games. Microsoft has not given up on them, but it's just taking a break from them. We recently found a few interesting tidbits that pointed to a possible Banjo-Kazooie update slated to be announced at E3 2015, but what about the other great games that Rare has produced over the years?

"Will there ever be another Banjo, Viva, Blast Corps, Battletoads? Yeah, someday," said Ken Lobb, creative director for Microsoft Studios. "We know there's value. We have a lot of passion internally for each of the games. And we have surprises in store for the near and long future."

However, all this talk just means that these things can eventually happen, but eventually can take a very long time. Unfortunately, nothing is confirmed.

"Understand that what it's really about is we want to build this suite of IP [Intellectual Property] that we can add to a list of, 'let's build some new things, let's build some recent sequels, and let's do some crazy stuff like dig back into our portfolio of IP and build some games that people love,'" Lobb later explained. "I think the best message to give to your listeners is we love the old IP as much as you do. Please be patient because we can only build so much at a time."

It seems that, at least for now, we will have to make due with the Xbox 360 versions of Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie for now and hope that E3 2015 will bring good news for our beloved childhood memories.
