JACKPOT, Nev. (AP) — Elko County authorities are trying to identify a man whose body was found rolled up in a sheet about three miles south of Jackpot. Authorities say he had been shot several times with a small caliber gun.

His body was found off a dirt road west of U.S. Highway 93. The Elko Daily Free Press reports the victim is a Hispanic man in his early 20s. Investigators believe he was killed elsewhere and dumped in the high desert. He was wrapped in a sheet secured with duct tape.

The body was found last Sunday. Authorities say they delayed releasing information because they didn't want the unknown suspect to flee. The body has been sent to the Washoe County Crime Lab in Reno.
