Man Charged with Shooting Idaho Pastor to Discuss Plea Deal

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Lawyers representing an Idaho man accused of shooting a pastor will discuss a possible plea deal with prosecutors.

The Coeur d'Alene Press reports that 30-year-old Kyle Odom could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted of charges associated with the March shooting of Pastor Tim Remington in a Coeur d'Alene church parking lot. A Kootenai County District Court judge agreed Tuesday to allow the plea deal discussion.

Remington will be allowed to give his input during the negotiation and a retired judge will serve as the mediator. If a plea agreement is reached, it's up to the judge whether or not to accept the deal. It one is not reached, the case will be tried as planned.
