Lumber Truck Pulled from Idaho River

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — Crews have removed a tractor-trailer from the Middle Fork of the Clearwater River following a crash and are working on removing the load of lumber.

Idaho State Police tell the Lewiston Tribune  the tractor-trailer was removed Thursday following the Wednesday crash.

Police say 39-year-old Travis D. Chandler of White Bird lost control on a curve on U.S. Highway 12 about three miles east of Kooskia and went through a guard rail and down an embankment, with the tractor-trailer coming to rest upside down and partially in the river.

Police say Chandler was removed from the wreckage quickly by emergency responders but it took several hours to remove his 12-year-old daughter who was pinned under the truck's dashboard.

Travis Chandler was treated and released at a hospital while his daughter was listed in satisfactory condition.
