Luke Bryan on Stage Collapse: ‘It Could Have Been a Life or Death Situation’

A stage accident following Luke Bryan‘s Thursday night (Jan. 16) concert in Columbus, Ohio has left four crew members injured and the ‘Drink a Beer’ singer a bit shaken up.

Bryan sounded upset as he recounted the details of the collapse for radio station 98.1 the Bull, explaining, “It was minor injuries that really, really could have been catastrophic.”

“We had one guy that if he had not gotten out of the way, it could have been a life or death situation. It was scary,” the singer admits, adding, “But everybody’s okay. No fans were in the building when any of this happened.”

According to reports, a forklift struck the rear of the stage while crews were tearing it down, which resulted in the collapse. Bryan says some equipment was damaged, and many of his crew members are still in Columbus. Unfortunately, the incident has also resulted in the postponement of Friday night’s (Jan. 17) show with openers Lee Brice and Cole Swindell.

“We’re just so bummed for the people in Lexington,” Bryan states. “We want to make it go well and make everything run smooth. Lee and Cole can still be on the show. We will come back in and make it even more exciting, even more fun.”

While it’s an unfortunate letdown for Lexington fans and those who may have traveled to the concert, the country star promises to make it up to fans. In fact, now that the show has been rescheduled for Feb. 21, Bryan has over a month to practice … not his singing, but his hip shaking moves.

“I can hone in the dance moves a little better,” he jokes.

Just this week, Bryan announced the second leg of his 2014 That’s My Kind of Night Tour, which will kick off in May and roll into a handful of stadiums.
