Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton have a relationship that allows for plenty of ribbing — and Shelton’s new relationship has given Bryan plenty of material. Before the CMT Artists of the Year ceremony this week, at which both artists were being honored, Bryan told ET that he hasn’t hung out with Shelton and new girlfriend Gwen Stefani yet, because Shelton won’t let him.

“He doesn’t want me to hug her or anything — he doesn’t want me to meet her,” Bryan jokes in the clip above.

Bryan keeps it light when asked about what he thinks of their new relationship, keeping with the good-natured jabs at Shelton.

“My stepmother is an optometrist,” Bryan explains, "and I’m trying to get Gwen an appointment with her."

While Bryan may wonder how Shelton scored Stefani, the couple seems to be happy with one another. They’ve been spotted displaying PDA in between takes on The Voice set, and Stefani even let slip she loves him (ish). This is the second season the two have worked together on the show. Shelton has been a coach since The Voice's inception, but Stefani was brought on more recently for seasons 7 and 9.

The CMT Artists of the Year ceremony also honored Sam Hunt, Little Big Town and Florida Georgia Line at the event, highlighting the artists for their successes in 2015. Bryan’s new record Kill the Lights released in August, and since then he’s been busy touring, sweeping awards and performing at several award shows, not to mention a Cowboys halftime show.

Shelton has been working on The Voice this fall, hoping to add a couple of new promising artists to his repertoire of successful Team Blake alumni. He also released a greatest hits record in October.
