Low Gas Prices Leave Idaho City Budgets With Extra Cash

The Idaho Press-Tribune reports that Caldwell and Nampa saw major savings in their 2015 fuel budgets. In Nampa, the police department has had surplus funds in its fuel budget for the past three years.

Nampa Police Capt. Brad Daniels says last year the department used leftover cash to replace two garage doors at its secure parking lot. The leftover gas money allowed the department to avoid asking the City Council for additional money. In all, Nampa had more than $239,000 left over from its fuel budget, or about 30 percent.

In Caldwell, the city saved $304,033 in its total fuel budget in 2015, or about 39 percent.
