Lost and Found Items Increase at Salt Lake City Airport

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — More people have been leaving belongings behind when traveling through the Salt Lake International Airport.

KUTV-TV reports that workers at the Lost and Found reported a 30 percent increase in items left behind in 2015. The airport averages 48 lost items a day. Of the 17,000 items left behind, more than 3,000 were returned. Anything unclaimed goes to auction or charity after 90 days.

The airport has three staffers tasked with returning lost goods to passengers. Employee Loreigh Riney says she has seen everything from jewelry to fresh cut elk antlers.
