TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Idaho lawmakers are looking at ways to expand protections for victims of stalking by strangers.

The Times-News reports that state Sen. Grant Burgoyne, D-Boise, plans to sponsor a bill during the next session that would expand Idaho's protection order law to include anyone who is harassing or stalking a person. Currently a person can only get an order of protection against someone with whom they were married, had a relationship or child with or a relative.

State Rep. Lance Clow, R-Twin Falls, says he supports changing the law and has begun talking to constituents who are affected by the issue. Victims of stalking by strangers say they are lobbying for the change, as they are left unprotected by state law.
