Newcomer Lauren Jenkins made her national television debut on NBC's Today this on Feb. 7, performing her latest single "Running Out of Road." Jenkins was selected as Elvis Duran's Artist of the Month, so Duran introduced her performance and talked up her storytelling ability and drive.

When asked why she has to do music, Jenkins told the hosts, "Honestly, since I was young — ever since I could remember — being a storyteller is the only thing I've wanted to do and can do. It's been hard sometimes, but then some days you get to play on the Today show."

Jenkins' sultry and smoky vocals brought to life her performance of "Running Out of Road." The single comes off her upcoming album, No Saint, releasing on Mar. 15 via Big Machine Records.

This isn't the only high-profile appearance Jenkins has made recently. She also held a screening and performance at Sundance, debuting her short film, Running Out of Road. The film focuses on her passion for storytelling and music career, set in the American West. After premiering the film, Jenkins performed an acoustic showcase at the Sundance Mountain Resort’s well-known Owl Bar.

Jenkins began writing and performing music as a teenager, then learned how to blend her songwriting with country roots music with Americana influences. She has a variety of inspirations, mainly from being Texas-born and California-raised, as well as her constant travels.

You may recognize Jenkins from opening for acts like Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride and Delta Rae.
