TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – News Radio 1310 has learned that King’s Variety Store will be closing stores later this spring, according to several store employees who wished to remain anonymous.

Employees found out about the possible closing on Monday.

King’s, which once operated a store in Twin Falls but closed in 2015, was expected to make a return to the community at the former Hasting’s building off Blue Lakes Boulevard.

According to the company’s website, King’s has 19 locations in Idaho and the neighboring states of Utah, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Wyoming.

In a statement released on Tuesday the company thanked all of its customers and the communities it has served:

The retail climate has radically changed in the past decade much as the job market did for our ancestor during the 1800s. With the advent of both large-box retail stores and the internet, anyone with a computer can buy from millions of vendors around the world. Brick and mortar stores need feet and faces to survive as we have salaries, rents and other costs to cover. Unfortunately for us that is not the current landscape.
