Riding a bike is something every kid should learn how to do. Many of us have fond memories of the days riding our bikes around our neighborhoods, with our childhood friends, and perhaps trying to do tricks. Maybe, you are someone that use to enjoy riding a bike to run errands, getting to your friend's house, or riding them around town. Many people look back on their childhood and think of the days riding their bike, and perhaps have some stories that their parents never knew, but now that our children are at that age, it is time for them to create those memories. Are the children around Twin Falls able to do what we did though, and are they safe or in danger depending on where they ride?

Riding bikes is a great way to get around town, and with the size of Twin Falls, it can be a cost-saving matter as well. While most kids can't wait to begin driving, the ones that still have to wait will often ride their bikes everywhere, as we did as kids, but where should they be allowed to ride them, and how far from home? It use to be common for kids to ride bikes all through a neighborhood and perhaps even blocks away from home, if not further. Parents rarely knew where their kids were, but it was normal in those days. Fast forward to today, and most parents freak out if their kids leave the driveway, or go past the neighbor's house on each side. What changed and how far should kids be able to go these days?

It isn't as common to see kids riding bikes all over a neighborhood or town as it used to be, but there are still some that like to get out and enjoy the pastime. With so many missing children reports taking place across the country, state, and even i9n Twin Falls, should children be limited to how far they can get away from home? There are reports almost weekly it seems of kids being kidnapped and they range in ages. You may think your teenager is safe to ride their bike, but in today's world, it is hard to trust that they will make it back home safely. As much joy as it brings parents to see kids that still want to put the video games away, get outside, and enjoy their bike, it is understandable to want to keep them inside or limit them to staying in a certain radius.

The next time your child wants to go out and ride their bike, make sure to keep an eye on them, or perhaps make sure to slip a tracker into their bag or pocket. You can never be too safe these days, and while we all have fond memories of riding our bikes to places we shouldn't, our kids might need to miss out on those adventures.
