Blake Shelton, be warned: Kelly Clarkson is going to annihilate you on The Voice.

During an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Clarkson promised an exciting Season 14 for viewers. She'll be joining the show as a coach in spring of 2018, and she hopes to take Shelton down.

"I'm a big fan of [Shelton]," she says. "Always have been for, I don't know, for like a decade now we've been friends. So yeah, it should be fun."

Shelton and Clarkson are performing together at the Department of Defense Warrior Games opening ceremony at Soldier Field on July 1. It's the official kickoff of the paralympic-style competition, which hosts around 265 competing wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans.

"I guess it will be a precursor for The Voice. A precursor to when I annihilate him," Clarkson jokes. (The Voice returns for Season 13 on Sept. 25, with coaches Miley Cyrus, Shelton, Adam Levine and newly-added Jennifer Hudson in tow.)

Competitors in this weekend's Warrior Games represent teams from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and US Special Operations Command. The games will take place June 30-July 8 throughout downtown Chicago. "Any time we can all be a part of something that lifts up and shines a light on all of these heroes that are participating is an amazing moment," Clarkson says. These men and women have put their lives on the line for us and have overcome so much in the process of doing that. It will be a tremendous honor to perform for them and their families who have sacrificed so much."
