After a 90-minute rain delay, Keith Urban kept his promise to make waiting for him worth it. His set at the 2015 Taste of Country Music Festival more than rewarded fans who cleared out then returned for great country music in Hunter, NY.

Beginning with “You Gonna Fly,” Urban played a 75-minute-long set that included nothing but hit songs. He also played his latest single “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16.” Fans loved the new song from his upcoming studio album, which came after well-known tracks like “Somewhere in My Car,” “Put You in a Song” and “Long Hot Summer.”

There were very few ballads. “Making Memories of Us” was one of the few that slowed it down during a set that didn’t include well-known songs like “You’ll Think of Me” or “Til Summer Comes Around.” Kayla Sarro came on stage to sing “We Were Us” with Urban; the New York native won a talent contest through radio station WGNA, earning the right to sing Miranda Lambert’s part on the ballad.

It took but a song for Urban to bust out his guitar. “Put You in a Song” included a lengthy solo, as did “Raise ‘Em Up” later in the set. The 47-year-old found room to shred, proving his guitar cred — as if it was necessary.

He closed with “Somebody Like You,” with his band taking a bow alongside him. By this point the rain had given up, moving along for a full weekend of great country music and camping in Hunter, N.Y.

Tim McGraw, Billy Currington and Chase Bryant join Tracy Lawrence for Saturday's fun (June 12) at ToC Fest. Toby Keith headlines Sunday's show.
