RUPERT, Idaho (KTVB)-- Authorities say a Rupert man who died in a kayaking accident Sunday had an enlarged heart and severe coronary artery disease.

An autopsy report received by the Minidoka County coroner on 56-year-old Steven Andrew lists the cause of death as cardiac arrhythmia due to or as a consequence of near drowning and hypothermia. Andrew was kayaking alone Sunday afternoon in the Snake River near the Minidoka Dam when his kayak tipped over in some fast-moving rapids.

Rescuers found him lying on a rock in the middle of the river. By the time they reached him it was too late. Andrew was wearing a life vest, and fishing gear was found with him, the undersheriff said.
