Kacey Musgraves won her first Grammy on Sunday (Jan. 26) for Best Country Song, a category for which she was actually nominated twice.

The singer, whose popular song 'Merry Go 'Round' was facing Taylor Swift's ‘Begin Again,’ Lee Brice's ‘I Drive Your Truck,’ Miranda Lambert's ‘Mama’s Broken Heart’ and Blake Shelton's ‘Mine Would Be You,’ beat out some country's biggest stars for the win.

Interestingly, Musgraves also helped write 'Mama's Broken Heart,' so her odds of winning were greater than her competitors.

The 'newcomer' was nominated for a whopping four awards at the 2014 Grammys, with the Best Country Album category to be announced during the live telecast. The rising star was present at the pre-telecast event, taking the stage to accept her award in a floor-length, tiered, ruffled gown that glittered every time she moved, her dark hair loosely pulled back.

"Oh my goodness, this is crazy!" she exclaimed, addressing the crowd. "The fact that this song was chosen as the best ... just blows my mind."

Musgraves' voice was noticeably full of emotion as she tried to take in the moment. "This song has changed my life," she added -- and she's not lying.

She noted that she wrote 'Merry Go 'Round' with Josh Osborne and Shane McAnally (who were onstage with her) in the middle of Texas, her home state.

"We tapped in to something really special," Musgraves shared upon accepting her Grammy. "I'll never get tired of playing that song."
