Justin Moore ‘Not Concerned’ About Recent Lawsuit Over His Song ‘Backwoods’

Justin Moore is perhaps the most laid back guy in country. His relaxed personality and reasonable outlook on life are proving especially helpful following the news of recent lawsuit, in which a Nashville songwriter sued the singer over his 2009 hit single, ‘Backwoods,’ claiming that it was stolen.

But Moore pays those kind of accusations no mind.

“I honestly don’t know much about it,” the ”Til My Last Day’ singer tells Taste of Country with confidence. “I haven’t been served anything. These kind of lawsuits happen a lot in Nashville. A lot of times they’re taken care of.”

In the suit, songwriter Bobby Carmichael alleges that Moore and his ‘Backwoods’ co-writers — Jeremy Stover and Jamie Paulin — stole his song idea, lyrics, pitch and rhythm.

Moore assures that he’s not worried about things not working in his favor, because he has faith that the truth will prevail. “I’m not concerned about it at all,” Moore states. “I know and the good Lord knows that we wrote that song and didn’t steal it from anybody.”

Luckily for the father of two, he has plenty of positives to place his focus on right now, including his two young daughters, his new hit single on the rise and his forthcoming tour with Eric Church.
