Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) A message is being sent out to Jerome Middle School families regarding a potential case of meningitis. Meningitis is a serious condition that can be deadly.

The memo states while nothing has been confirmed, a positive diagnosis cannot be ruled out. Officials say they are warning parents as a precaution and encourage them to keep an eye out for potential symptoms.

"Well if their children have some elevated temperatures or feeling headaches or nauseous or potentially vomiting they should take their children to a primary care manager right away. It's not an emergency right now; we are just trying to keep the public informed so they are aware of it,” said district health director Rene LeBlanc with the South Central Health District.

The South Central Health District is expecting to have lab results and a diagnosis by the end of the week.
