JEROME, Idaho (KLIX)- Construction on Jerome County's jail facility will officially begin in March.

County officials made the official announcement on Monday for the $11.2 million Jerome County Criminal Justice Facility. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 2pm March 5th at the corner of T Street and 100 East Road, just north of Idaho Milk Products.

In May 2013 Jerome County voters passes a bond to fund the needed facility. The county had tried four previous times to get voter approved funding. The 132 bed facility is expected to open in a year or more from March.
