Jaw Bone Found in North Idaho Lake

CLARK FORK, Idaho (AP) — A jawbone thought to be human and other bones have been found in a northern Idaho lakebed left exposed due to a rare deep drawdown of the lake.

Bonner County Sheriff's Capt. Ror Lakewold tells the Bonner County Daily Bee that the bones found earlier this month in an exposed area of Lake Pend Oreille have been turned over to the coroner's office. Lakewold says the bones appear to be decades old and it's unlikely they're connected to any recent disappearances or crimes.

Steve Beal and his two young sons found the bones on March 7 while exploring the lake bed that's been exposed due to restoration work on the Clark Fork Delta. Beal says the bones were old and gray, and the teeth didn't have any dental work.
