Jason Aldean‘s fifth studio album, ‘Night Train,’ is still rolling fast, but that hasn’t stopped the star from looking forward to his next project. Aldean has confirmed that he’s already working on his sixth record.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Aldean shares that he’s scoping out material for a new album. For now, the ‘My Kinda Party’ hitmaker is leaning toward using outside songwriters rather than writing his own material.

“Honestly, over the years I’ve gotten out of writing as much as I used to, because I’m my own worst critic when it comes to songs; I’m pretty hard on myself when it comes to that stuff, and I think there’s a lot of great songwriters in Nashville,” Aldean says. “I want to find the best songs I can for my album, and if I happen to write ‘em, great. If I don’t, I’ve got no problem cutting outside songs, for sure.”

Thanks to the success of his first five albums, Aldean doesn’t have any trouble getting submissions from the top scribes in the business. “We have certain guys that know when we’re getting ready to go in and cut a record, so they’ll go in and write specifically for our record,” he explains.

Currently, Aldean is out on the road for his 2013 Night Train Tour, which will pull into its final station this fall. Given his busy schedule, the country singer expects to get in the studio in the next two or three months to start cutting some songs.

But lthough he is already thinking about his next project, Aldean has still been able to focus on having a great summer. In addition to his successful time on the road, Aldean had the opportunity to host the CMT Awards in June, and the experience is still fresh on his mind.

“It was fun,” he recalls. “It was a different experience for me at an awards show like that, dealing with that stuff and not really knowing what I would get into. I tended up being a lot of fun, and I enjoyed it. CMT was happy with it, and if they want to have us back that would be something I would definitely be interested in, so we’ll see what happens.”
