Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan + More Sing Merle Haggard on New Tribute Album
Aldean took on 'Going Where the Lonely Go' and 'Are the Good Times Really Over (I Wish a Buck Was Still Silver) for the collection, which hit stores Tuesday (April 1). He admits that 'Going Where the Lonely Go,' a classic tearjerker, really resonates with him.
“It was always just one of my favorite Merle Haggard songs,” Aldean explains to Radio.com. “My dad was a big Merle Haggard fan, and I just remember him playing this song a lot as a kid. So given a chance to in and be part of [this tribute], I wanted to do a song that meant a little something to me. And this was one that took me back to my days as a kid.”

Classic country fans will be glad to hear that Aldean stayed true to the arrangement, and the stripped-down version is an intimate side of the rocker that's sometimes forgotten. Other artists to appear on the album include Luke Bryan, Toby Keith and Garth Brooks.
In addition to a tribute record, Haggard will receive the Crystal Milestone Award at the ACMs on Sunday (April 6), celebrating his five decades in country music. Country stars Miranda Lambert and George Strait will take the stage to perform a tribute to Haggard during the awards show. Tune in at 8PM ET on CBS.
