In 1987 college rock band R.E.M. wrote "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)," and 24 years later I feel curiously similar.

Recently a fringe Christian sect predicted the rapture is happening today.  Yahoo News reports they made the same prediction in 1994 and were wrong, but this time they were serious. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) they were wrong. Again. No one is missing. There are no empty piles of clothes. The sky isn't burning. I guess we can file this one with Y2K and a whole host of other failed apocalyptic predictions.

And I still have chores to do. Oh well...
