‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’: Season 10 Not the Last, Award Snub Episode Coming

Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia End Season 10 Awards
FX

We’d previously heard ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘ star Glenn Howerton talking about next year’s tenth season as a definitive end to the longrunning FX series, though Howerton soon recanted his words. Now, the entire cast and crew have chimed in to agree they see potential for an even longer run, spoofing their many award snubs in the process with an upcoming episode.

“Not for sure,” the cast uniformly responded to questions of a season 10 end at the TCA press tour panel. “I still feel like we’re doing our best work,” said series star Rob McElhenney. “Yes, we’re nine years into it, but we only do 10 episodes a season which allows us to be fresh.” Even Charlie Day chimed in, “I think at only 10 episodes a season, you really don’t run the risk of burning out.”

Among the multiple storylines we’ve heard teased (and even seen for ourselves at Comic-Con 2013), the cast even previewed an upcoming episode titled “The Gang Desperately Tries to Win an Award,” in which the Paddy’s Pub staff looks to see what other bars have done that they haven’t, a spoof on ‘Always Sunny’ being consistently passed over for award recognition.

Meanwhile, ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ season 9 also includes guest appearances from actor Seann William Scott, singer Josh Groban and ‘Breaking Bad‘ star Aaron Paul. ‘Game of Thrones‘ showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have written an episode, though the story of “Flowers for Charlie” won’t have anything to do with the HBO series.

Well, what say you, ‘Sunny’ fans? Are you glad to hear the show has life in it after season 10? What hare-brained schemes would you like to see the gang get up to when the new season premieres September 4?
