ITD Seeks Public Comment on Transportation Projects

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – The Idaho Transportation Department is seeking public comment until the end of the month draft transportation investment program.

From now through July 30, you can submit suggestions to ITD via email or physical address.

The Idaho Transportation Investment Program (ITIP) is a five-year roadmap for planning and developing transportation projects, such as highway and bridges; bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and airports, among others.

You can view the interactive Idaho Transportation Project Map and learn about work that is planned for specific areas of the state, according to a news release by the department.

“The draft ITIP document lists projects by highway route and location, identifies projected years for right-of-way acquisition, preliminary engineering, construction and estimated project costs,” reads the news release. “It also lists local construction projects that are federally funded. The projects start in 2017 and go through 2021.”

Public input will help ITD determine if proposed projects meet its main objectives of improving safety, mobility and economic opportunity.

Comments, which will be reviewed after July 30, can be emailed to adam.rush@itd.idaho.gov or by hard copy to ITIP – Comments, Attn: Adam Rush, P.O. Box 7129, Boise, ID  83707-1129.

After approval by the Idaho Transportation Board, the ITIP will be submitted to the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Transit Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency.
