COOLIN, Idaho (KLIX) – Idaho State Police is investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday morning that involved deputies from the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called at around 9 a.m. to serve a warrant to a person living near Coolin, but the person “was armed and exhibited hostile behavior,” according to information from ISP, which led deputies to fire their weapons.

The subject was injured and medical attention was rendered. A ground ambulance carried the subject to where an air ambulance awaited for further transport, but the subject died en route to the air ambulance.

The name of the suspect has not been released, ISP said, as next of kin were still being notified. The agency is leading the investigation, assisted by the North Idaho Critical Incident Task Force.
