A lot was made last Sunday of Dez Bryant's apparent meltdown during the late stages of the Dallas Cowboys' loss to the Detroit Lions. Since then, though, it was discovered that Bryant's gestures were accompanied by positive messages for quarterback Tony Romo. Is Dez Bryant being treated unfairly?

Bryant, who is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, was slammed by the media for his wild gestures on the sidelines towards Romo and tight end Jason Witten. However, in the following days, audio and video was released of Bryant telling Romo during the exchange that they were the best wide receiver/quarterback combination in the NFL and that they were going to use that talent to their advantage.

Many members of the media have not relented from their stances, continuing to call out Bryant as an immature diva, citing off-field issues from his past, which can certainly be construed as unfair given that those instances are totally unrelated to this one.

On the other hand, Bryant's behavior could be seen as a distraction, thereby validating the criticisms that have been brought against him.
