TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – If you’re looking for something to do outdoors this weekend, you may want to pack your fishing gear.

The Filer Ponds were stocked today with catchable trout, 10 to 12 inches long. It also was stocked Feb. 9 with brood from Clear Springs, said Dave May with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.

“I believe that the catchable stockings for Niagara Springs and Crystal Lake were delayed due to a hazardous train derailment above American Falls Hatchery,” he said, but noting Crystal Lake was stocked on Feb. 10. The delayed shipment will likely arrive over the next few days.

Stocking is dependent on pond and lake conditions.

Filer Ponds offer children and their parents the opportunity to fish without the need for heavy tackle or gear. The smaller pond is for children 12 years and younger, while the two larger ponds are for anglers of all ages. Each fishery has easy shoreline access.

The ponds are located at 4350 N. 2300 E., Filer.
