LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — The Port of Lewiston lost about $450,000 on its day-to-day operations in fiscal year 2014. The Lewiston Tribune reports in a story on Thursday that the loss is attributed to a reduction in cargo leaving the area in containers. Port officials say the number of containers the port handled fell to 4,439.

That's far below the high of 17,611 in 1997. The port this year has handled 2,108 containers through September, compared to 3,205 through the same time last year.
