BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Dentists across Idaho are gearing up to provide free dental care to uninsured children from families unable to afford teeth cleaning and other treatment. The service begins next month and is part of the Idaho State Dental Association's annual "Give Kids a Smile" program. Dentists and their staff will be volunteering their time and services in locations across the state.

Last year, more than 1,300 children got free treatment through the annual program. Federal public health officials say nearly one in four kids between the ages of two and 11 have untreated cavities in baby teeth ISDA President Dr. Jack Klure says too many Idaho children live with daily pain due to poor oral health. Parents or guardians can call 2-1-1 Idaho CareLine to register and set up an appointment.
