Idaho Wildlife Managers Increase the Number of Hunts

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Big game hunters in Idaho will have a chance to bag more elk next season and more time to hunt wolves in certain parts of the state. The Idaho Fish and Game Commission on Tuesday adopted a series of new rules and regulations for the 2013 big game hunting season.

Major changes for elk include an increase of more than 2,300 controlled hunt tags. The commission also made adjustments in a variety of hunting zones across the state for elk season. Commissioners also approved extending the wolf hunt on private land in the Panhandle Zone to year-round and stretched the season in the Middle Fork Zone north of the Selway River to June 30. Changes also included expanding wolf trapping in certain hunting zones.
