Idaho Tax Commission Funding Gets House Thumbs Up

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The House approved $200,000 in funding for the Idaho State Tax Commission in a vote that was absent the acrimonious criticism meted out by the Senate on the same bill. The measure, mostly to cover bills in the audit and collection department, cleared on a 43-23 margin on Wednesday.

In the Senate, the measure had passed on just a one-vote margin, after some of senators lashed out at the commission, largely for what they said was the harsh, unforgiving methods of collectors. The Spokesman-Review (http://tinyurl.com/9wuxl4) reports there was a smattering of that in the House, but that representatives also stuck up for the agency.

Rep. Darrell Bolz, a Republican from Caldwell and the bill's sponsor, explained it like this: "There are some individuals that don't like to pay their taxes."
