Idaho Senator on Fence on Representing his District

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A Democratic state senator still hasn’t decided whether he’ll represent his Boise district during the 2014 Legislature, saying much hinges on his job hunt in Washington where his wife and kids have relocated.

Sen. Branden Durst, from District 18, has been splitting time between Boise and the Seattle area. Reached by telephone in Washington on Thursday, Durst says he’s still preparing as if he’ll be in the Idaho Capitol come January.

A professional researcher, Durst says not just any job will pull him to Seattle. He says it’s not as if he’ll “take a job as a server at Applebee’s and leave the Legislature.” In addition to keeping in touch with constituents via social media, Durst says his son from a previous relationship has preserved his strong ties to Boise.
