BOISE, Idaho (AP) — State health officials have reported the first death from influenza in Idaho this season. The Department of Health and Welfare announced in a statement Monday that the northern Idaho woman died within the last week.

She was over the age of 60. The agency does not release the names of flu victims. The Centers for Disease Control recommends annual vaccinations for everyone 6 months and older.

Dr. Christine Hahn, the agency's state epidemiologist, says it is not too late to get the vaccine to be protected during the 2015-16 flu season. Last season, 32 people died from flu-related illnesses in Idaho.
