Idaho Prosecutors Say Double Murder was Because of Stolen Pot

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Prosecutors say the theft of $100,000 of marijuana led to the contract killing of two Boise men.

Authorities say 34-year-old Anthony James Robins Jr. arranged for the shooting deaths of 27-year-old Travontae Calloway and 28-year-old Elliott Bailey. The Idaho Statesman reports that Ada County Deputy Prosecutor Shelley Akamatsu detailed the motive Tuesday in 4th District Court during Robins' arraignment.

Authorities say 44-year-old John C. Douglas of Reading, Pennsylvania, traveled to Boise and carried out the May 8 killings and wounded Calloway's girlfriend. Robins is charged with two counts of aiding and abetting first-degree murder and one count of aiding and abetting attempted first-degree murder.

Douglas is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder. Akamatsu says Robins drove the getaway vehicle.
