MIDDLETON, Idaho (AP) — A car that crashed into a house and ruptured a natural gas line forced the evacuation of about two dozen homes in southwest Idaho.

The Canyon County Sheriff's Office tells the Idaho Statesman that a person reported the crash at 11:30 p.m. Saturday in Middleton. The sheriff's office says phone notifications went out to evacuate, but residents were allowed to return about 15 minutes later.

Authorities say the 38-year-old driver didn't cooperate with emergency responders and was detained, then taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment. His name hasn't been released.
