Idaho Murder Suspect Sentenced in Different Case

BURLEY, Idaho (AP) — The suspect in the slaying of an Idaho man has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for a separate kidnapping case involving an elderly Las Vegas couple. The Times-News reports James Duane Ambrose was sentenced Thursday in Las Vegas on charges of first-degree kidnapping with the use of a deadly weapon.

He was also sentenced for charges of battery and robbery connected to that case. Ambrose will now be returned to Idaho to face pending charges of murder and grand theft in the May 2012 death of Russ Taft at a Burley motel. Ambrose, who worked for Taft, went missing at the same time Taft was reported missing by motel staff. Taft's body was found in a crawl space at the motel.
