Idaho Marijuana Oil Bill Revived

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho House panel has revived a previously failed proposal to legalize oil extracted from cannabis plants thought to help relieve severe seizures in epileptic children.

The House State Affairs Committee voted 12-4 on Thursday to send SB1146 to the House floor. Just three days prior, the same panel had killed the legislation on an 8-8 vote. Three committee members switched their votes Thursday, explaining they felt compelled to vote in favor after talking to parents and physicians pleading for the bill's passage.

Meanwhile one Democratic member who was absent during the prior vote was in attendance while one Republican member was absent. Under SB 1146, parents would be allowed to use the oil on their children even though the use of marijuana for medical purposes is outlawed in Idaho.
