BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A former Nampa daycare worker has been sentenced to at least 32 years in prison for molesting two dozen children, including the son of a Boise police officer. The Idaho Statesman reports Joshua Ritchie was sentenced Thursday to 32 years to life in prison after a three-hour hearing that included emotional testimony from parents and victims. He earlier pleaded guilty to 13 sex crimes.

The police officer testified he thought Ritchie deserved the death penalty and said he fought the urge to take the law into his own hands. Ritchie, who is 23, apologized and commended his victims for speaking out, saying he didn't have the same courage. Phillip Ritchie said his son was molested by a relative and he regrets not pursuing charges. Police began investigating Ritchie in August.
