BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A 20-year-old Caldwell man who used social media to lure teenage girls into sexual meetings has been sentenced to life in prison.

Twenty-year-old Alex Rangel received the sentence Tuesday in 4th District Court and must serve at least five years before becoming eligible for parole. He pleaded guilty in March to lewd conduct with a child under 16 and enticement of children over the internet. In a separate case in Canyon County, Rangel was sentenced to 15 years for child enticement, and must serve five years before becoming eligible for parole.

The sentences are running concurrently. Police say Rangel used Facebook and other sites to lure girls as young as 13. He gave a 17-year-old marijuana and alcohol before having sex with her though she told him to stop.
