Idaho Man Sentenced After Getting 7th DUI

CALDWELL, Idaho (KTVB) -- A Nampa man could spend the rest of his life in prison after racking up his seventh DUI earlier this year.

Jayson Lee Hof, 42, was sentenced to 40 years behind bars Monday for felony DUI. He will have to spend at least ten years in prison before he is eligible for parole. Hof was pulled over in March after Nampa Police Department officers saw his car swerving across the center line. He was arrested after failing several field sobriety tests.

Hof, who had a open bottle of whiskey in his center console when he was pulled over, refused a breathalyzer test. After officers obtained a warrant for a blood test, however, his blood alcohol content was determined to be .287.

He pleaded guilty in June, making the offence his fifth felony DUI and seventh DUI in his lifetime. Judge Molly J. Huskey also deemed him a persistent violator, opening the case up for stricter sentencing. Prosecutor Bryan Taylor said Hof's repeated crimes prove he is too dangerous to be on the streets.
