IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Charges have been filed against a 34-year-old Idaho Falls man for a fatal boat crash on the South Fork of the Snake River. Christopher L. Fife was arraigned Thursday on charges of involuntary manslaughter and operating a boat while under the influence for the Aug. 3 crash that killed 33-year-old Cara Tomita of Rigby and seriously injured 40-year-old Richard Olaveson of Idaho Falls. Fife's bail was set at $100,000 and his preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 4. Prosecutors say Fife's blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit of 0.08 percent when his jet boat ran aground on a large pile of rocks. Court records say Fife has DUI charges pending for traffic stops in May and June and was convicted of DUI in 2005.
