BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A Boise man suspected of hitting and killing a cyclist last week has been charged with a felony for leaving the scene of an accident.

A judge also set bond at $250,000 Monday for Gavin Bradford Haley. Haley turned himself in Friday, one day after 53-year-old Victor Haskell died from injuries suffered in the collision. Prosecutors alleged Monday that Haley knew his vehicle struck the cyclist and stopped briefly before driving away from the area.

Prosecutors also say Haley was driving home from a bar at the time of the collision. But defense attorneys deny Haley saw the injured cyclist, and turned himself in after seeing media reports and knowing he'd hit something. Police say the impact from the hit pushed Haskell into a small pit in the sidewalk.
