POST FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A man has been charged for possessing three government-issued hand grenades after a bomb squad seized the devices from a basement in a Post Falls home.

The Coeur d'Alene Press reports that Raymond Edwin Ruprecht was already being held at the Kootenai County Jail when he was arrested Tuesday. Post Falls Police Detective Neil Uhrig says an investigation found that he had received the grenades through his military service. Uhrig says the Spokane Regional Bomb Squad had received a call Tuesday from an undisclosed person reporting the grenades at the home.

Uhrig says the grenades were found in the basement. They were determined to be live, but their safety features had been intact. The home was evacuated, and a unit from Fairchild Air Force Base seized the grenades.
