Eden, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Heavy rains last week led to a buildup of water on the east side of a culvert running under Idaho 25 about five miles west of Eden at milepost 18.1, washing out the culvert and causing a temporary closure of the road and detour of traffic as Idaho Transportation Department crews assess the damage and make repairs.

Failure of the culvert started yesterday, and crews began emergency maintenance efforts to alleviate the flooding damage. However, water overtook the culvert and washed it out at approximately 6 a.m. this Tuesday.

ITD crews have blocked the road at milepost 14.5 and 19.2, and drivers are asked to find an alternate route around the site. The road will remain closed until flooding subsides and repairs are made. A local canal company has been notified and asked to divert flows.
